GDP, or gross domestic product, is a crucial measure of a nation’s financial health, representing the total market value of goods and services produced within a given time frame. It includes consumer consumption, business investments, and government spending, minus imports. The recent GDP report for Q1 of 2025 showed a 0.3% decline, attributed to increased imports and lower government spending. This marks the first GDP decrease since Q1 of 2022, impacting the world’s largest economy, the United States, which aims for 2-3% annual GDP growth for ongoing financial health. China, with an aggressive target of 5% growth annually, follows the US in GDP rankings.
