Spotify updating app for US users after court ruling in Apple case

Streaming giant Spotify updated its app to display pricing info and purchase links after a judge ruled Apple must allow developers greater communication with customers. Apple was found in “willful violation” and must stop restricting developer-app user interactions. Spotify can now offer lower prices and more choices to U.S. consumers.
Following a court ruling, Spotify’s update allows U.S. users to view subscription pricing details and promotional offers. Users can easily upgrade to premium plans and switch between subscription types. The update also allows Spotify to accept alternative payment methods, giving users more flexibility.
Spotify’s update for U.S. users follows a similar change made for European users last year. The company has criticized Apple’s App Store policies, calling for the removal of anticompetitive barriers. Apple plans to appeal the ruling but will comply in the meantime. Spotify sees the update as a step toward a more level playing field for developers worldwide.
