Berkshire Hathaway stock slumps 6% as Warren Buffett says he’s retiring

Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, announced his retirement at the end of the year. Shares fell by almost 6% but are still up 13% for the year. Greg Abel will take over as CEO in 2022, with Buffett remaining chairman. Berkshire reported $348 billion in cash for Q1.

Berkshire Hathaway continues to be bearish, selling more equities than buying for the 10th consecutive quarter. Buffett believes the company will thrive under Abel’s leadership. Abel emphasizes reinvesting in businesses and acquiring stakes in public companies. Both Buffett and Abel expressed confidence in the company’s future direction.
