Tether Gold enters Thailand with listing on Maxbit exchange

Tether, issuer of USDt stablecoin, introduces tokenized gold asset in Thailand through Maxbit exchange. Tether Gold (XAUt) listed on Maxbit, offering first tokenized gold pair in Thailand. Launched in January 2020, Tether Gold has $802 million market cap with each XAUt representing one troy ounce of gold. Thailand approved stablecoins like USDt in March.

Maxbit, a licensed digital asset exchange in Thailand, welcomed Tether Gold’s entry into the Thai market. Thai SEC approved USD-backed stablecoins in March, allowing Tether’s USDt and Circle’s USDC for cryptocurrency trades. Maxbit’s major shareholders include PTG Energy with 35% stake, Spearhead Labs with 29%, and Unit Company with 28.7%.
