Toyota redesigns bZ4x, its only U.S. EV, as 2026 bZ

Toyota Motor unveils redesigned all-electric vehicle for 2026, named “bZ”. Updates include 25% increase in range, 50% more horsepower, fast-charging capabilities. Aim to compete with Tesla and GM EVs. Expected in U.S. showrooms second half of year, pricing undisclosed. Previous model faced recalls and reviews, but new improvements address concerns.

2026 Toyota bZ has improved range of up to 314 miles, peak horsepower of 338 hp for AWD models. Equipped with Tesla’s North American Charging System port for fast charging. Updated interior and exterior styling to enhance competitiveness in growing EV market in U.S. Sales of EVs in the U.S. increased 11.4% year over year in Q1 2025.

Toyota sold 35,000 units of bZ4X since late 2022, with 18,570 sold in 2024. New bZ model aims to improve on predecessor’s flaws and compete with other EVs in the market. Sales of EVs continue to rise in the U.S., with more models available to consumers.
