Chrysos Corporation has secured a master services agreement with Newmont for its PhotonAssay technology in gold mining operations. The technology offers rapid and environmentally friendly analysis of gold, silver, copper, and other elements in just two minutes, improving accuracy and reducing costs.
The agreement includes installing an initial PhotonAssay unit at Newmont’s Ahafo mine in Ghana by the first half of fiscal year 2026. The terms feature an optional renewable five-year term, a fee per sample analyzed, and a stipulated minimum monthly assay payment, demonstrating the commitment to advancing technological solutions in the mining industry.
Chrysos CEO Dirk Treasure expressed pride in securing the agreement with Newmont, highlighting the industry leader’s commitment to operational and environmental excellence. The company’s strategy focuses on converting major gold miners to PhotonAssay, with top and mid-tier producers increasingly adopting the technology for their projects worldwide.
In April, Newmont concluded the $4.3bn sale of its Akyem and Porcupine operations in Ghana and Canada, further emphasizing its focus on innovation and efficiency in its mining operations. The collaboration with Chrysos for PhotonAssay technology marks a significant step towards enhancing analytical capabilities and sustainability in the mining industry.
