Valeura Energy has made the final investment decision to redevelop the Wassana field in the Gulf of Thailand, aiming to boost shareholder value. The project includes a new central processing platform to increase production to 10,000 barrels per day by 2027. The investment of $120m is fully funded by the company.
The redevelopment plan extends the field’s life to 2043, with estimated 2P reserves of 20.5 million barrels. The project is expected to add significant value, with a net asset value increase of $218m. The economics are robust, with a 40% internal rate of return and an 18-month payback period.
Valeura Energy’s CEO stated that the project marks a milestone for the company, increasing reserves and production while reducing operational costs. The company also completed an infill drilling campaign at the Manora field, raising production to 2,866 barrels per day. Future drilling targets are being assessed for additional programs.
