Uber Announces Affordability-Focused Commuter, Uber Eats Features

Uber announced new affordability-focused features at its Go-Get event, including price locks for frequent routes and bulk ride purchases. Uber Eats will introduce a “Savings Slider.” Partnerships with OpenTable and Volkswagen for autonomous vehicles were also revealed. A new in-app “Commute Hub” will launch this summer to showcase these features.
The “Route Share” feature will allow users to share rides during weekday commute hours, potentially saving 50% compared to a typical Uber X ride. Uber Eats will launch a “Savings Slider” in the U.S. and Canada. Partnerships with OpenTable and Volkswagen were also detailed, with shared rides in autonomous electric vehicles planned for Los Angeles in 2026.
Uber shares were down nearly 2% in recent trading but remain up roughly 50% since the start of the year. The company continues to innovate with new features to enhance affordability for commuters and Uber Eats customers. The partnerships with OpenTable and Volkswagen signal further expansion and growth opportunities for Uber.
