Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Wistron announced that its new U.S. manufacturing facilities for Nvidia will be ready next year. Nvidia plans to build AI servers worth up to $500 billion in the U.S. over four years. Wistron is in talks with other potential customers to use the facilities. The company’s board approved a $500 million investment in its U.S. subsidiary. CEO Jeff Lin stated that demand outside of China remains strong. The UAE and U.S. signed a deal to build the largest AI campus outside the U.S., potentially purchasing 500,000 of Nvidia’s AI chips per year starting in 2025. Wistron is considering producing notebooks in Mexico to avoid U.S. tariffs under the USMCA agreement.
