Authentic Brands Group Is Buying Dockers for $311 Million

Authentic Brands Group acquires Dockers from Levi’s for $311 million, with potential to reach $391 million based on future performance. The deal includes a licensing agreement with Centric Brands to oversee key categories in the U.S. and Canada. Dockers had sales of $318 million last year and operates in 50 countries.
Levi’s intends to return $100 million to shareholders from the Dockers sale. Authentic Brands plans to expand Dockers globally through its network of licensing partners. The fate of Dockers’ management team is uncertain as the deal closes in July. Levi’s focuses on its namesake brand and women’s business, including Beyond Yoga.
Dockers struggled after the Casual Friday trend faded, but Authentic Brands sees potential to revitalize the iconic brand for a new generation. Levi’s has considered selling Dockers multiple times in the past. Authentic Brands owns over 50 brands generating $32 billion in annual sales and operates in 150 countries.
Authentic Brands views Dockers as a brand with deep roots and growth potential, aligning with its strategic priorities. Dockers will be managed by Centric Brands across various categories. The deal will close in two parts, with full operations expected to be transferred by January. Levi’s has a strategic partnership with Bank of America to explore alternatives for its men’s-focused Dockers business.
