Bancor is suing Uniswap for patent infringement, claiming Uniswap used its technology without permission. Bancor designed the technology in 2016 and patented it in 2017. The lawsuit alleges that Uniswap used Bancor’s invention to create its protocol in 2018. Uniswap has not publicly responded to the lawsuit filed in New York.

DefiLlama data shows Uniswap as the second-largest decentralized exchange with $3.8 billion in 24-hour trading volume. Bancor, in contrast, ranks 142nd with $378,579 in 24-hour trading volume. Uniswap has processed $2.8 trillion in trading volume over its lifetime. Bancor fears unchecked actions like this could hinder industry innovation.
