Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed plans to launch robotaxi trials in Austin, Texas by end of June, expanding to San Francisco and Los Angeles. The company will start with 10 self-driving cars in safer areas, aiming to deploy up to 1,000 robotaxis if the launch is successful. Musk emphasized the importance of a successful trial for Tesla, which has been promising safe self-driving cars since 2016.
Despite a 15% YTD share price decline, Tesla has rebounded with gains of 42.45% in the past month. Musk pledged to limit his role in the US government and committed to staying as CEO for the next five years, reassuring investors. Cantor Fitzgerald remains bullish on Tesla but believes other AI stocks offer greater potential for returns with limited downside risk.
