Zimbabwean miners are urging a delay in the 5% export tax on lithium concentrate until local refining plants are operational to boost the domestic industry. Zimbabwe Lithium Exporters (ZLE) proposed a deferral until 2027 when lithium sulphate production is expected. Concerns were raised over royalty calculations based on lithium carbonate prices. The Chamber of Mines is in talks with the Finance Ministry regarding these requests. Zimbabwe Mining Development is seeking solutions to protect assets from potential confiscation due to debt issues.
