FDA approves STARJEMZA, a biosimilar to Stelara, developed by Bio-Thera Solutions and Hikma Pharma.

The FDA has approved STARJEMZA, a biosimilar to Stelara, developed by Bio-Thera Solutions Ltd and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC. This is Bio-Thera’s third FDA approved product. STARJEMZA inhibits the bioactivity of human IL-12 and IL-23, important contributors to chronic inflammation in conditions like psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis. Bio-Thera is responsible for development and manufacturing, while Hikma will handle commercialization in the US. The agreement between the two companies was reached in August 2021.
