The World Travel & Tourism Council predicts that the U.S. economy will lose $12.5 billion in spending from international visitors in 2025, affecting jobs and businesses nationwide. The Trump administration’s policies, such as border security and trade tariffs, have deterred travelers, with flight bookings to the U.S. down 11% year-over-year.

Perceptions of the U.S. are influencing travel decisions, with travelers opting for other destinations due to concerns about detainment, device searches, and deportations. Oxford Economics had initially projected growth in international arrivals and spending for 2025, but the current outlook is weak due to these factors.
