Encounter Resources regains full control of the Yeneena copper-cobalt project in Western Australia after IGO exits their joint venture. The project covers over 1,450km² in the Paterson Province, known for significant copper potential near established mines like Telfer and Nifty. IGO invested A$15m in exploration during the six-year partnership.
Encounter Resources plans to utilize the extensive dataset from the partnership to guide future exploration at Yeneena. The company will focus on the BM1 high-grade copper oxide discovery and BM5 copper leakage anomaly for resource definition and follow-up drilling. The insights from accumulated data will shape future drilling campaigns and exploration strategies.
Encounter Resources executive chairman, Will Robinson, highlights the strong demand for Tier 1 copper opportunities and the strategic importance of the Yeneena project. With renewed control, the company aims to advance exploration at high-grade copper zones and targets to maximize the project’s potential. The company expresses gratitude to IGO for their collaboration over the past six years.
