Jeep reveals new Cherokee SUV, confirms hybrid model

From CNBC: 2025-05-29 12:21:00

Jeep unveils details of the 2025 Cherokee SUV, aiming to aid in the brand’s turnaround. The midsize SUV will offer a hybrid powertrain option, with pricing expected to start around $30,000, positioning it between the Compass and Grand Cherokee models. Production location and further details remain undisclosed.

The previous generation of the Cherokee was produced in Illinois but was discontinued in early 2023, contributing to ongoing sales declines for Jeep. The brand has experienced six consecutive years of U.S. annual sales declines, with a 10% decrease reported in the first quarter of this year.

Incoming Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa is expected to prioritize Jeep’s turnaround efforts. The brand has faced challenges, including price increases affecting affordability. Analysts speculate the 2025 Cherokee will be produced in Mexico, a decision made prior to President Trump’s automotive tariffs on imported vehicles into the U.S.
