American Resources and ReElement Technologies have expanded their antimony refining contract to provide ultra-pure antimony products for US defence and commercial industries. The ten-year agreement, generating over $29m annually, will process stibnite ore into critical compounds for applications like ammunition and batteries. The global antimony (III) oxide market is set to grow significantly by 2034.

The partnership will start with 500 tonnes of stibnite ore per month, with the potential to increase based on demand. CEO Mark Jensen highlighted the importance of extending the contract, emphasizing the critical role antimony plays in various applications. The expansion aims to secure domestic sources following China’s ban on antimony exports to the US.

In a related development, ReElement Technologies partnered with Novare Holdings to establish Africa’s first critical and rare earth element refining facility with a $100m investment. This initiative will leverage proprietary technology to produce high-purity lithium carbonate and rare earth oxides. The expansion of the antimony refining contract marks a strategic move in securing essential minerals domestically.
