Block, the company headed by Twitter co-founder and Block CEO Jack Dorsey, is introducing a new feature that will allow businesses to accept Bitcoin payments through its Square point-of-sale terminals. This feature, demonstrated at Bitcoin 2025 in Las Vegas, will be rolled out to all eligible merchants by 2026. The new feature builds on Block’s existing Bitcoin Conversions feature and utilizes the Lightning Network for near-instant settlement. This move aligns with Dorsey’s vision of making Bitcoin more accessible and usable in everyday transactions, emphasizing the importance of Bitcoin being used for payments, not just as a store of value.
