Kizik has appointed Gareth Hosford, a former Nike executive, as its new CEO, while Monte Deere will continue to serve on the board. The company is experiencing high demand for its patented technology, which Hosford aims to scale and expand globally. He brings expertise in omni-channel strategy and licensing to drive rapid expansion.

Hosford’s background includes roles at Omorpho, Converse, and Nike, where he worked for 12 years. He is focused on scaling innovation, expanding globally, and unlocking licensing opportunities for HandsFree Labs. The company is in a phase of explosive growth and aims to capitalize on its patented hands-free technology.

In recent months, Kizik has added new executives to its team, including Andreas Harlow and Elizabeth Drori. Harlow, a 20-year Nike veteran, joins as SVP of design to push footwear design boundaries. Drori, who previously worked at Sperry, is the new CMO. The brand is doubling down on its retail strategy, with plans to open more stores across the U.S.

Deere plans to have a total of six stores by the end of 2024, with new openings in Boston, New Jersey, and Denver this year. Future locations being considered include Washington, D.C., Nashville, Seattle, and Portland for 2025. The brand is focused on expanding its retail presence and building momentum for its hands-free technology.
