BNSF Railway forms a 13-member team, First Mile/Last Mile, to boost single-carload traffic volume across its 32,500-mile network. Led by Mark Ganaway, the team aims to provide solutions for a more efficient supply chain. This move comes as railroads seek growth amid a reset in American trade policy and the rise of customized shortline services.

In response to a decline in carloads and manufacturing, BNSF launches the Shortline Select program. The First Mile/Last Mile team, based in Fort Worth, Texas, will work to partner with short lines and drive growth for customers. The team’s goal is to streamline the supply chain and break down barriers for a more efficient rail shipment process.
