Paramount Global nominated three new directors to strengthen its board as it awaits regulatory approval for an $8.4 billion merger with Skydance Media. The nominees are Mary Boies, Charles Ryan, and Roanne Sragow Licht.
President Trump filed a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS News, owned by Paramount, alleging deceptive editing of an interview with Kamala Harris. Analysts see the lawsuit as a potential obstacle to the Paramount-Skydance merger.
The merger needs approval from the FCC due to broadcast license transfers. Paramount offered $15 million to settle Trump’s suit, which he later raised to $20 billion. Negotiations are ongoing.
Paramount is ensuring a full board is in place as negotiations with Trump continue. The annual stockholder meeting is scheduled for July 2, with the merger hanging in the balance.
