Stellantis, the automaker formed from the merger of Fiat-Chrysler and PSA, switched oil suppliers from Petronas to Total, putting 500 jobs at risk in Italy. Selenia, the Italian brand owned by Petronas, lost its long-standing contract with Stellantis, impacting 450 workers in Turin and 70 in Naples. The decision came after a competitive tender process, leading to concerns about job security in the auto industry. The Uilm union vowed to protect affected workers and other suppliers facing challenges due to Stellantis’ choices. Stellantis is Italy’s only major automaker, with production hitting a 65-year low in 2021.
