Gambaryan and another Binance executive were detained in Nigeria in February 2024 for money laundering and tax evasion charges. Binance ceased Naira transactions in response to the litigation. Gambaryan pleaded not guilty and faced health issues during his imprisonment. Charges were dropped by Nigerian authorities in June and October 2024. Anjarwalla reportedly escaped to Kenya.
