Trump’s ‘Very Good’ Call With Xi Puts Wall Street Back in Risk-On Mode

Investors saw a positive shift in the market as the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.7% and the S&P 500 climbed 0.4% after President Trump’s optimistic comments on a call with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Dow also saw gains of 140 points, or 0.3%.

Stocks initially dipped as the market awaited confirmation of the phone call from the White House, following reports from Chinese state media. However, after Trump’s reassuring statement, riskier stocks began to soar.
