Equinor ASA signed a $27.1 billion deal with Centrica to supply natural gas to the U.K. for the next decade, meeting 10% of the country’s annual gas needs. Despite efforts to reduce fossil fuel use, 70% of U.K. homes rely on gas for heating. Equinor CEO Anders Opedal emphasized the deal’s importance for the U.K.’s energy security. Last year, the U.K. imported nearly two-thirds of its gas supply, with Norway accounting for half of those imports. EQNR stock has surged over 4% in the past month.
