Uniper partners with GE Vernova to upgrade three GT26 gas turbines at the Grain power station in Kent, UK, to enhance efficiency and power output in line with decarbonization goals. The Enfield plant has already seen performance improvements and extended maintenance intervals with this technology.
GE Vernova’s GT26 HE upgrade has shown significant benefits, including a 25MW increase in plant output per unit, up to $1m fuel savings annually, and extended maintenance intervals up to 32,000 hours. This collaboration aims to improve the reliability and availability of Uniper’s Grain power plant in the UK energy landscape.
The GT26 HE fleet achieved over 100,000 operating hours by March 2025, with 15 units sold and eight in operation, demonstrating the upgrade’s performance and reliability. GE Vernova secures an order for five 7H-Class gas turbines for the Qurayyah independent power plant expansion project in Saudi Arabia, highlighting continued demand for advanced gas turbine technology.
