Didi Taihuttu, known for going all-in on Bitcoin in 2017, has upgraded his digital asset security after violent attacks on crypto holders. Taihuttu now uses a hybrid approach, splitting and storing his seed phrase across four continents to prevent potential points of failure in security. About 65% of the family’s assets are now held in cold storage.

Crypto-related crimes are on the rise as digital asset prices surge. Incidents include kidnappings, torture, and extortion of crypto investors globally. In the UK, gang members were convicted of kidnapping a crypto investor, while in Chicago, a family was kidnapped for a $15 million crypto transfer. Streamer Amouranth was also a victim of a home invasion for crypto assets.

In a recent incident, three masked men attempted to kidnap the daughter and grandson of a French crypto exchange CEO in Paris. The daughter resisted, taking a gun from the attackers, and passersby intervened, forcing the assailants to flee. This incident is part of a broader trend of rising violent crimes linked to cryptocurrency ownership globally.
