Ferrovial has acquired a 3.3% stake in 407 International (407 ETR) from AtkinsRéalis Group and plans to purchase an additional 1.76% stake by June 11, 2025. The total investment of C$1.99bn gives Ferrovial a 5.06% ownership in the Canadian toll highway, increasing its stake from 43.23% to 48.29%.

AtkinsRéalis has sold its remaining 1.7% stake in 407 ETR to CPP Investments, while PSP Investments acquired a 7.51% interest from CPP Investments. This reshuffles the ownership structure, with Ferrovial at 48.29%, CPP Investments and others at 44.20%, and PSP Investments at 7.51%.

Highway 407 ETR is a vital 108km toll route in Ontario’s Greater Toronto Area that helps alleviate traffic congestion. Since 1999, Ferrovial has been involved in improving mobility in the region through its ownership in 407 ETR.

In Q1 2025, Ferrovial reported a 19.1% increase in adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization to €309m compared to the same period last year. This boost in earnings reflects the company’s continued growth and investment in infrastructure projects.
