High Liner Foods to acquire Mrs. Paul’s and Van de Kamp’s brands from Conagra for $55m, including $36m in inventory. The deal excludes employees and manufacturing sites. High Liner produces 25 million pounds of seafood annually under these brands. The move aims to boost growth in the US retail market.
Conagra sells Mrs. Paul’s and Van de Kamp’s to reshape its portfolio. Last month, Conagra agreed to sell Chef Boyardee for $600m. The seafood brands contributed $75m to Conagra’s net sales in 2024. Conagra reported a decline in net sales and a 49.1% decrease in net income.
High Liner CEO views the deal as highly strategic, capturing value for shareholders and ensuring a seamless transition for customers. Conagra’s CEO sees the sale as an opportunity to focus on core frozen offerings like Duncan Hines and Healthy Choice. The move aims to strengthen the company’s portfolio and drive innovation.
