Amazon is ramping up its cloud dominance with plans to invest $10 billion in new data centers in North Carolina, creating 500 jobs. Overseas, Amazon is expanding in Chile, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan. While AWS still leads the cloud market, its share has dipped to 29%, prompting increased investment in infrastructure.

The expansion provides enterprises with more cloud resources and AI infrastructure, attracting multinational companies to stick with or migrate to AWS. Amazon’s focus on building cloud infrastructure over creating language models like Google or Meta may yield a more lucrative return on investment, leading to strategic AI partnerships rather than competition.
