Venture Global has decided to withdraw its application for the Delta LNG export facility in Louisiana, focusing instead on the Plaquemines expansion project due to efficiency concerns. The latter project aims to construct additional liquefaction facilities with a capacity of 18.6 million tonnes per annum of LNG.

The Plaquemines expansion project includes 12 liquefaction blocks, a new marine loading berth, and a natural gas-fired electrical generation facility on a 250-acre site. Venture Global also plans to use an adjacent 350-acre land for supporting the construction of the facilities.

Despite canceling the Delta LNG project, Venture Global will retain the land for potential future revival based on market conditions. The company anticipates the Plaquemines Expansion Project to produce similar amounts of LNG as the Delta LNG Project but on a quicker timeline.

In addition to the Plaquemines expansion, Venture Global has started site work at the CP2 LNG export facility following approval from the FERC. The terminal will be situated adjacent to the existing Calcasieu Pass LNG plant in Louisiana, covering approximately 1,150 acres.
