The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is investing C$108.3m in the construction of the 102.2MW Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n 2 wind farm, the first Indigenous equity loan provided by CIB. The project, located in Gespe’gewa’gi, involves the Mi’gmawei Mawiomi Business Corporation and Innergex Renewable Energy, with operations set to begin in late 2026. The wind farm will reduce emissions by 153,053 tonnes annually and create 150 direct jobs during construction. CIB’s investment aims to support Indigenous economic development and clean power opportunities, aligning with their mandate to promote sustainability and Indigenous partnerships.
