Brazil’s Finance Minister announced a new fiscal package, raising income tax on interest on equity payments to 20% from 15%. The package also includes unification of income tax rates on financial investments at 17.5%. The additional revenue generated will be used to revise a previously imposed tax hike on forfait operations. The measures aim to strengthen the Brazilian currency and support interest rate cuts.
