Shell plans to increase its capacity by up to 12 million tonnes by 2030, with projects in Canada, Qatar, Nigeria, and the UAE contributing. The company currently has a buying capacity of 70 million tonnes per annum and delivered nearly 65mtpa of LNG to over 30 countries last year.

In addition to construction projects, Shell is enhancing supply capabilities through acquisitions and partnerships, such as the recent acquisition of Pavilion Energy. By 2030, 60% of new supply is expected to come from the US and Qatar, driven by Asian demand and sectors difficult to electrify.

Global LNG demand could surge by 60% by 2040, driven by economic growth in Asia, AI impact, and emission reduction initiatives. Shell recently took the final investment decision to produce gas at the Aphrodite field in Trinidad and Tobago.
