AI supercomputing is driving quantum applications in industries like aerospace and manufacturing. Ansys is using NVIDIA’s CUDA-Q quantum computing platform on Denmark’s Gefion supercomputer to advance quantum algorithms for fluid dynamics. This collaboration allows for large-scale quantum simulations to be run, accelerating research in the field.
Gefion, Denmark’s first AI supercomputer, is equipped with NVIDIA’s DGX SuperPOD and Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking. Ansys leveraged the power of the supercomputer and CUDA-Q software platform to perform GPU-accelerated simulations of quantum algorithms for fluid dynamics applications. This partnership is pushing the boundaries of quantum technologies and AI supercomputing.
By tapping into GPU-accelerated libraries with CUDA-Q, Gefion can run complex simulations of Quantum Lattice Boltzmann Methods. This enables Ansys to study the impact of these algorithms on fluid dynamics applications using a 39-qubit quantum computer. The collaboration with NVIDIA and DCAI is expanding the role of quantum computing in engineering disciplines.
NVIDIA’s recent focus on accelerated computing for quantum research includes the opening of Japan’s ABCI-Q, the world’s largest quantum research supercomputer, and a new NVIDIA-powered supercomputer in Taiwan. This emphasis on advancing quantum computing through supercomputing platforms is propelling research in the field and driving innovation in various industries.
