Saudi Arabian food and beverage group Almarai has acquired Pure Beverages Industry Company for SR1.04 ($277m). Almarai plans to expand its beverage portfolio and enhance consumer offerings with this deal. The acquisition will create value for shareholders. Pure Beverages owns Ival and Oska brands, with factories in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. Almarai will finance the acquisition internally, pending regulatory approvals in Saudi Arabia.
Almarai’s recent unsuccessful attempt to acquire Hammoudeh Food Industries earlier this year led to the Pure Beverages acquisition. The company remains open to future expansion opportunities and strengthening regional operations. Almarai operates in dairy, poultry, bakery, infant-nutrition, and juice sectors. In 2024, the group generated revenue of SR20.98bn, with an operating profit of just under SR3bn.
In 2023, Saudi Arabia’s packaged water market volume was 3.88bn litres, with a forecasted growth of 3.9% to 4.03bn litres in 2024. Berain Water, another Saudi bottled-water business, attracted a new investor in March, with Hassana Investment Company acquiring a 40% stake from Rajhi-Invest. Berain has production plants in Jeddah and Riyadh, offering bottled water in various sizes.
