Chinese EV manufacturer Xpeng is collaborating with Volkswagen (VW) to integrate its AI chip into certain car models launching in China next year. Xpeng aims to supply these advanced chips to other automotive companies as well, supporting autonomous driving. The partnership with VW involves joint development of two cars for the mid-class segment, with Xpeng investing $700m annually in AI technologies. These chips boast computing power of 2,200 TOPS, significantly higher than existing models in the market. Xpeng plans to expand its chip business, showcasing China’s progress in chip design and reducing reliance on foreign semiconductors.
