Nvidia and Samsung invest $35 million in Skild AI, valuing the robotics intelligence startup at $4.5 billion. SoftBank leads the Series B round with a $100 million investment. Nvidia contributes $25 million, focusing on advancing the “physical AI” revolution. Samsung commits $10 million for strategic visibility into Skild’s technology.

Skild AI aims to develop a shared “foundation model” for robots in various tasks like manipulation, locomotion, and navigation. The startup believes its technology can address the U.S. labor shortage, especially in high-risk industries. Deloitte study projects over 2.1 million U.S. manufacturing jobs could go unfilled by 2030.

Samsung views its investment in Skild as a way to stay competitive in the robotics space. The company has also taken stakes in other robotics startups and plans to launch a domestic robot named Ballie in partnership with Google. The investment in Skild signals growing confidence in the startup’s long-term potential.

With major tech companies like Apple, Meta, Google, Amazon, and Tesla accelerating work on consumer and humanoid robotics platforms, the robotics field is becoming highly competitive. Skild AI, backed by heavyweight investors, could emerge as a major rival in bringing intelligent robots into real-world environments at scale.
