Private equity investor Sovereign Capital Partners has sold UK-based financial advisory firm Shackleton to Lee Equity Partners. Shackleton agreed to a majority investment from Lee pending regulatory approval, with financial terms undisclosed. Sovereign originally backed Shackleton in 2021 and helped them complete 18 acquisitions to become a leading UK financial adviser.

Shackleton recently acquired IM Asset Management and TWP Wealth, expanding its services. Sovereign Capital Partners praised the strategic acquisitions that positioned Shackleton as a market leader. The company rebranded in December 2024 as a unified platform with over 400 professionals, supported by investments in operations, technology, and management.

Shackleton’s founder Richard Skerritt transitioned from daily operations with the help of new leadership. The company recruited industry veterans like Paul Feeney as CEO, Andrew Fisher as Chair, and Grant Hotson as CFO. Feeney expressed excitement about the partnership with Lee Equity, aiming to provide trusted financial advice across the UK.

The sale of Shackleton to Lee Equity Partners marks a significant milestone in the company’s evolution and growth. With a vision to become Britain’s leading financial adviser, Shackleton aims to offer fair and affordable advice nationwide. Sovereign Capital Partners highlighted the success of their Buy & Build strategy in supporting Shackleton’s transformation into a market leader.
