Spain-based SanLucar is expanding in France by acquiring a stake in Buonanno, a fresh produce importer and exporter at the Saint-Charles International Market in Perpignan. This move allows SanLucar to establish a physical presence in France and offer its full range of products to the French market.

SanLucar’s CEO, Armin Rehberg, sees this alliance as a strategic move to grow in the French market and increase business with local retailers. The acquisition of Buonanno’s cross-docking facility will support SanLucar’s operations in France and across other countries, enabling quick deliveries to various European destinations.

SanLucar’s French operations will be led by Fabien Lefebvre, with Phillip Arroyo remaining as president of Buonanno during the transition phase. Founded in 1993, SanLucar employs over 4,000 people and offers a wide range of fruits, vegetables, and other products in Europe, South Africa, and Latin America.

This expansion in France marks a significant step for SanLucar as it seeks to strengthen its presence in key European markets and enhance its supply chain capabilities. The acquisition of Buonanno’s stake underscores SanLucar’s commitment to growth and innovation in the fresh produce industry.
