Texas Instruments (TI) will invest $60bn in the US to expand semiconductor manufacturing, building seven new factories in Texas and Utah. The company’s chips are used in smartphones, vehicles, data centers, and more. The move aligns with the Trump administration’s push to strengthen domestic manufacturing.

The first new factory, SM1, in Sherman, Texas, will start production in 2025. TI also plans to build SM2, SM3, and SM4 in Sherman to meet future demand. In Richardson, RFAB2 is scaling up production. In Lehi, Utah, LFAB1 is ramping up, with LFAB2 under construction.

Ford partners with Texas Instruments to enhance US manufacturing, combining automotive expertise with semiconductor technology. Nvidia collaborates with TI on AI architectures, and SpaceX uses TI’s technology in its Starlink satellite internet service. TI’s president, Haviv Ilan, highlights the importance of their technology in American innovation.
