The Thai government plans to revise subsidy rules for battery electric vehicle (BEV) manufacturers due to issues faced by Hozon New Energy’s local subsidiary, Neta Auto. Hozon is struggling financially and hopes to raise funds to improve cash flow. Neta Auto Thailand has not met production commitments for government subsidies under the EV3.0 programme. BEV makers receive up to THB 150,000 per vehicle in subsidies. Neta Auto must produce 19,000 BEVs this year but has only produced 4,000 units. The Thai Ministry of Finance recommends new rules to suspend subsidies if production commitments are not met.
