Northland analyst Ted Jackson reduced Hyster-Yale, Inc. (HY) price target from $75 to $50, maintaining a Market Perform rating on the company’s shares. Analyst cites tariffs and economic uncertainties for FY25 predictions cut due to a “mixed” Q1 performance compared to consensus. Hyster-Yale, Inc. reported a 14% year-over-year reduction in lift truck revenues in its 2025 business update, attributing it to lower sales volumes in the Americas and EMEA regions. Manufacturing absorption decline and reduced volumes led to a steep drop in adjusted operating profit.

Nuvera, the company’s fuel cell division, reported larger operational losses both sequentially and year over year due to higher R&D costs. Pretax earnings dip led to a decrease in income tax expense from $25 million to $8 million. Operating cash outflows totaled $36 million in Q1, compared to $22 million inflows the previous year. Inventory levels improved by around $70 million annually, with strong bookings of $590 million representing an annual and nearly 50% sequential rise. Backlog remains stable at $1.9 billion, anticipating capital expenditures between $40 million and $65 million in 2025.
