The United States has the most millionaires globally, totaling 23.8 million in 2024, with 379,000 new millionaires last year. Mainland China ranked second with 6.3 million millionaires, while Turkey saw an 8.4% increase to 87,000. America’s lead grew due to a strong Wall Street and stable US dollar.

UBS economist James Mazeau stated that it’s too early to predict U.S. household wealth growth for 2025. Despite a weaker dollar, he believes American real estate remains strong and U.S. equities could end the year higher. While the U.S. has 40% of the world’s millionaires, Luxembourg and Switzerland have higher concentrations of wealth.

The worldwide millionaire population increased to 60 million, driven by rising real estate values. Billionaires experienced modest growth, with high turnover and wealth declines in 15 markets. The wealth of 60 million individuals represents nearly half of global wealth, with 2,860 billionaires holding $15.7 trillion in assets.

UBS notes wealth concentration among the world’s richest individuals, with 15 centibillionaires holding $2.4 trillion. Wealth inequality persists even among billionaires, largely due to tech sector outperformance. The growth of “everyday millionaires” with $1 million to $5 million has quadrupled since 2000, surpassing the collective wealth of billionaires.
