Metaplanet buys 1,111 Bitcoin, approaching Tesla's holdings, contributing to the positive market.

Metaplanet, Japan’s top Bitcoin corporate treasury company, bought an additional 1,111 Bitcoin, bringing its total holdings to 11,111 BTC, nearing Tesla’s 11,509 BTC. The purchase cost 17.26 billion Japanese yen, around $117 million, with an average price of just under $105,500 per coin. Despite Bitcoin trading below the purchase price at around $102,000, Metaplanet’s cost basis remains lower at $95,560 per coin.

Metaplanet’s recent purchase follows a previous buy of 1,112 Bitcoin, pushing its total holdings to 10,000 BTC. Currently, Metaplanet ranks as the eighth-largest corporate Bitcoin holder, just behind Tesla, which holds 11,509 BTC. The next company in the ranking is CleanSpark with 12,502 BTC, surpassing Metaplanet’s current holdings by 1,391 BTC.

Multiple companies, including Nakamoto Holdings and Parataxis Holdings, are joining the trend of building Bitcoin treasuries or acquiring more funding for existing ones. Companies like K33 and Norwegian Block Exchange are also raising funds to boost their Bitcoin reserves. At least 237 public companies now hold Bitcoin, totaling over 832,000 BTC, around 3.96% of the total supply of 21 million.
