Below average demand for seven-year note auction, with lower bid-to-cover ratio and higher yield.

The Treasury Department announced that the auction of $56 billion worth of seven-year notes had below average demand, with a high yield of 1.480 percent and a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.21. Last month, $59 billion worth of seven-year notes were sold with a high yield of 1.588 percent and a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.42. The bid-to-cover ratio is a measure of demand, with the previous ten auctions averaging 2.28. Earlier this week, auctions of two-year and five-year notes had modestly above average demand.
