VinFast opens new EV manufacturing plant in Vietnam, focused on compact urban models

VinFast, a subsidiary of Vingroup, has unveiled its new electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Hà Tĩnh, Vietnam. The facility covers 360,000m2 and is capable of producing 200,000 vehicles annually, focusing on compact urban EV models like the VF 3 and EC Van for domestic and international markets. The plant is expected to generate 6,000 direct jobs initially, with potential for expansion to 15,000 employees.
The VinFast Hà Tĩnh plant features highly automated production lines with technology from partners like DÜRR, ABB, FANUC, and SIEMENS. It houses essential facilities such as a body welding shop, general assembly shop, painting shop, logistics warehouse, and quality control center. An auxiliary cluster of 240,000m2 is also under construction to support future expansion and production growth.
With plans for five manufacturing facilities globally, VinFast aims for a significant increase in production capacity to meet rising demand in both domestic and international markets. The company’s strategic expansion includes upcoming plants in India and Indonesia to support its international market growth. Additionally, a dealership was signed in California, US, marking a milestone in VinFast’s US expansion strategy.
