JPMorgan analysts rate Circle (CRCL) shares underweight with a $80 price target by December 2026, down 55% from the current price of $180. The forecast is based on a 45x multiple of projected 2027 earnings per share (EPS) plus a $10 premium for upside potential.

Circle is valued at $43.8 billion, growing from an $8 billion market cap after CRCL shares started trading on the NYSE in June. The company is the 497th largest worldwide by market capitalization.

Competition poses a threat to Circle’s market value, with potential risks from direct stablecoin competitors, tokenized deposit accounts, and digital money market funds. CRCL shares dropped 15.5% Friday after peaking above $290 in mid-June.

JPMorgan highlights risks from US stablecoin regulations, which may require issuers like Circle to hold equity capital based on stablecoins in circulation. The development of CBDCs could also impact Circle’s global expansion and long-term growth and profitability.
