Robinhood introduces tokens for EU customers to trade over 200 US stocks and ETFs, including Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft. The tokens can be traded 24/5 and will include stocks of privately-held companies like OpenAI and SpaceX. Shares surge nearly 10%, partnership with Arbitrum for issuance.
The move benefits from global interest in US stock market, especially tech giants and AI leaders. Tokenized equities offer better access, flexible trading hours, and lower costs, appealing to international investors. Experts see potential to revolutionize securities investing, despite regulatory uncertainty in the US.
Robinhood plans to develop its own blockchain for 24/7 trading hours and expand stock token offerings to “thousands” by year-end. CEO believes tokenization will spark a major trading revolution. Kraken also launched equities-linked tokens for non-US investors recently, expanding crypto tools for users worldwide.
In addition to stock tokens, Robinhood unveils crypto perpetual futures for EU customers and staking for US users. Perpetual futures allow leveraged bets on cryptocurrency prices without expiry dates. Coinbase to offer similar tools to US customers soon. Staking lets users earn rewards by validating blockchain transactions, following SEC clarification on security offerings.
